For this blend of Houjicha organic loose leaf tea, we have collected and roasted the stems and larger buds and leaves of the first tea harvest of the spring season.
The leaves were cultivated and produced without using any pesticides or chemical fertilizers, then roasted with high heat to bring out a beautiful brown color and wonderfully aromatic fragrance.
Mountain-harvested tea leaves have a nice fragrance and lingering taste, giving them a delicious flavor that can be finely distinguished from flat-land tea fields. Houjicha leaves also contain less caffeine compared to Sencha, making for a tea that is very accessible in the evening. It also has the effect of warming your whole body. And it's delicious served chilled too!
It is a widely popular tea for children and the elderly in Japan and utilized more and more in a range of goods in recent years. Houjicha based lattes, sweets, and cakes are being enjoyed both in Japan and everywhere else in the world.
